“Volvo Rides Again”

Filed under: family — mullerj at 2:50 pm on Sunday, June 11, 2006

I have had old Volvo cars (usually 240’s) for the past 20 years.  Last October my sedan reach end of life with 240,000 miles on it.  I recently heard of a 1991 with only 58,378 miles on it; mint condition; with extra snow tires.  I heard about it on Thursday morning, called about it, drove and bought it on Thursday night, got my registration and plates on Friday and put 270 miles on it over the weekend.IMG_0045.JPG

Woodchipper

Filed under: family — mullerj at 2:47 pm on Sunday, June 11, 2006

There are a lot of downed tops (maple & cherry) and a lot of brush on the new land we purchased.  We bought a wood chipper that runs off the 3-point hitch of my tractor - auto-feed and a six inch capacity.  I haven’t had a chance to use it yet.

Feeding the fish

Filed under: family — mullerj at 5:05 am on Saturday, June 3, 2006

Last night we finished waterproofing the other 1/2 of our deck and then walked down to the pond with some fish food.  We weren’t expecting the fish to react to the fish food on the 1st feeding, but some of them did.  So it was a treat to sit by the pond and watch Trey poking around the edges of the pond causing the few adult frogs to go swimming and see an occasional swirl as the catfish found the fish food.

Mighty Sand Fleas

Filed under: family — mullerj at 3:11 am on Friday, June 2, 2006

Due to my hip operation I am not playing volleyball this summer, but organized Tuesday and Thursday night teams and turned them over to the capable hands of Laura (Tues) and Kristina (Thurs) to Captain.  Thursday night’s Sand Fleas were in action last night vs the Swingers and I popped a couple of pictures to play with my new camera.  In this shot Rob and Kristina are at the net watching Alex adeptly handle a ball, being backed up by Kathryn with Ron in the far right.

Memorial Day

Filed under: Eric, family — mullerj at 3:07 am on Friday, June 2, 2006

On Memorial Day Eric and I were ‘batching it’ as Kathryn was in Rochester with her Dad. We had some errands to run, but on the way we saw our neighbor Andrea coming in from milking her goats, so we stopped off to say hi and look at her goat herd. Eric fed the goats grass while Andrea and I chatted about her goat showing exploits, recent travel, new baby Julia and horses. Continuing on our errands we got fish food and more grass seed at Agway finishing up just as the Memorial Day parade was to come through. We parked our truck in a shady spot along the road and only had to wait ~10 minutes until the parade started. A few veteran units were supplemented by local fire departments, boy scout troops and a school band. After 30 minutes or so the parade was complete and Eric and I hit the playground behind the elementary school where we met our friend Pat and his two little boys. After about 20 minutes of playing together Pat and his kids went home and I experimented with my new camera and took some pictures of Eric playing on the equipment.
